  • I have canned pear and peach butters but this year I would like to make a very sweet but spicy apple butter. Can you tell me if using Splenda Sweetener will have any effect on the butter or not. I have been looking for weeks but not found any type of spicy apple butter either for canning. Let me know if anyone out there can help me on this.

  • You can substitute ground flax seed and water for egg in recipes. As food prices soar and disasters multiply, we ought to be putting some aside. Flax is a great alternative to eggs and can be stored easily. About 1 T. finely ground flax seed (blender or coffee grinder) to 3 T. water replace one egg.
