My husband brought home a little plate of “Dreamsicle” Fudge. I was, frankly, skeptical because I could tell at a glance that there was NO chocolate in that there fudge….so how good could it be? On the other hand, his colleague Ellen had made the fudge and everything SHE makes is delicious.
To my surprise, I LOVED this orange treat. It was mellow and delicious and I was even able to overlook the absense of dark chocolate!
“Dreamsicle” Fudge
Mix in a heavy saucepan:
- 3 cups sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 ½ sticks of butter
Heat on medium low and stir until the mixture begins to boil. Boil for 5 minutes on medium heat.
Remove from heat and add:
- 1 12 oz. package of white chocolate chips
Stir until the chips are melted and smooth.
Add small jar of marshmallow cream and mix until smooth.
Remove 1 cup of this mixture and set aside.
To remaining mixture add:
- 3 teaspoons of orange extract
- 12 drops yellow food coloring
- 9 drops of red food coloring
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Mix well and pour in buttered pan.
Drizzle the unused white mixture over the orange and use spatula to swirl.
Chill.
Cut into small pieces.
This fudge tastes a little like a really creamy Starburst candy. It’s a nice contrast to the chocolate and mint flavors that dominate Christmas baking.

I had a friend that made that every year for Christmas. I do have a similar recipe (not hers) that requires heavy cream instead of milk.

Thank you so much for posting this recipe it was hard to find one online for the type of fudge you cook instead of making the kind that sets up in the fridge. My mom used your recipe and made me a batch and it is so YUMMY! I posted a link to your website and recipe on my blog so others can check it out.

Hi
I am in the uk and its hard to get ‘marshmallow cream’ is it a necessity?
I tried to make fudge before but it was disasteruos- did not set or melt together? so im skeptical about trying it again but this recipe sounds simple enough.
And,how much is a cup of sugar? or a stick of butter?

1 cup is equal to 8 ounces
1 stick of butter is 8 tablespoons of butter
8 tablespoons is 5 ounces.
Also:
A 7.5 oz jar = 32 large marshmallows.
1 large marshmallow = 13 mini marshmallows so a 7.5 oz jar would be equal to approximately 400 mini marshmallows.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the recipe! I made this years ago and couldn’t find it on any of my normal recipe sites… Fortunately, I found your website and am looking forward to exploring what else you have!
